Common FAQ 1: Why choose granite?
Granite is one of the hardest stones available with a rating of 7 on the Mohr's Hardness Scale, putting it just behind the diamond. Granite is the premium stone used in new home construction, and the surface of choice for home remodeling. It is highly sought after due to its amazing appearance with the different minerals, colors, striations, deposits and veins.

Common FAQ 2: How is GranitClad seven times stronger than 3 cm (1 1/4") granite?
Our 9 mm thin stone is reinforced with a fiberglass panel, which adds additional strength, along with making each slab 1/5th the weight of traditional 3 cm granite slabs

Common FAQ 3: Why shouldn’t we just tear out our existing counter tops and start from scratch?
Tearing out your existing counter tops can cause collateral damage to your cabinets, walls and surrounding areas. Counter tops also add strength to cabinets in the same way drywall adds strength to framed walls. Additionally, 2 cm and 3 cm stone is very heavy and the added weight can cause stress damage to older cabinets that are not designed to handle the weight. If your cabinets are in good shape resurfacing your countertop is your best option!

Common FAQ 4: Will my granite countertop hold or grow bacteria?
Granite is naturally porous, however if properly sealed, granite countertops become the least likely of all countertop materials to hold or grow bacteria.

Common FAQ 5: Can I just call or bring in my kitchen measurements to you to get a price quote?
No. In order to get an accurate price, please call us to schedule a free in-home estimate.  One of our estimators will come to your home with all of our granite and quartz samples, and give you a final printed quote.  Keep in mind that unless an estimator comes to your home, you will not have a final quote!

Common FAQ 6: How hard is it to reseal granite and how often does it need to be done?
Resealing granite is as simple as polishing your furniture. How often you seal your granite depends on the color and use, but you would normally reseal it about every two to five years.  GranitClad seals each top with our premium sealant prior to installation.  We are also available to reseal your top for you, or DIY homeowners may purchase a bottle of oil based sealant and reseal themselves….contact us for more info!

Common FAQ 7: Can we cut on a granite countertop or place a hot pan on it?
You can cut on granite, but since granite is nearly as hard as diamond, we recommend using a cutting board in order to maintain your expensive cutlery. While a hot pan will not damage granite countertops, granite will hold heat and can remain hot long after a pan has been removed.
